On September 17, the Belgian Consul General in Shanghai, Pascal Buffin, together with the Benelux Chamber of Commerce in China, led a delegation consisting of representatives from more than 10 leading enterprises, totaling 18 guests, to visit Bekaert's Jiangyin Base.
Since its establishment in 1993, Bekaert Jiangyin has invested over €1 billion, developing a world-class industrial system. Today, it is the company’s only comprehensive base in China combining R&D, production, and group services, while covering more than half of its capacity in the country.
The delegation explored:
Bekaert’s Asian R&D Centre – the first overseas R&D hub, recognized as a key foreign investment support center in Jiangsu Province.
Cutting-edge research in low-carbon materials, driving progress towards net zero across industries.
Advanced production lines showcasing ultra-high strength tire cord, energy efficiency, renewable energy use, and smart manufacturing.
The visit underlined Bekaert’s role as a global leader in wire transformation and coating technologies, innovating across mobility, energy transition, and sustainable construction.
This important initiative also helps to strengthen the dialogue and cooperation between Belgian, Dutch, and Chinese enterprises. It paves the way for future collaboration focused on fostering innovation and sustainability. We extend our sincere gratitude to the delegation and the entire Bekaert team for a warm welcome and an insightful exchange.
